Oils the way they used to be made
Cottage Wellness began in 2018 with a simple wish: to bring back the oils our grandmothers cooked with. That meant oils pressed slowly in a wooden ghani, left to settle on their own, and sold fresh, with nothing taken out and nothing added.
Today we press our oils at our own unit on the Srisailam Highway, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The seeds are crushed slowly in a traditional wooden ghani (ganuga) at low temperature. The oil then rests for three days so the sediment settles naturally before it is bottled. There is no chemical refining, bleaching or deodorising, which is why our oils keep the colour, aroma and taste of the seed.
Made by women
Every batch is pressed, filtered and bottled by our all-women team. Supporting women's work has been at the heart of Cottage Wellness from the start.
Small batches, always fresh
We press in small batches, and each batch is sold out or shipped within three days of being ready. Our oils do not sit in a warehouse for months.
Beyond oils
Alongside our oils we make ghee, Telugu homestyle pickles and podis, and handmade soaps, and we stock teas and raw honey. Everything is made in small batches, the traditional way.
